Recording and distributing Native American music since 1951.

We have an exciting schedule of new releases planned for 2009 ranging from the latest and greatest pow-wow songs to Native American Church music by some of the leading singers for the peyote ritual to re-issues of classic chicken scratch albums to a new release by R. Carlos Nakai, William Eaton and Will Clipman.

Be on the look out for new recordings by Northern Cree, Kevin Yazzie, Bear Creek, Thunderhill, Smith, Toppah & Landry, Lou Gonnie, Elk Soldier, Randy Paskemin, Jay Begaye, Southern Scratch, Glenn Ahhaitty, Sullivan & Day, and many more.

I'm very proud of Canyon's four Grammy nominees this year - Northern Cree, Kevin Yazzie, and Black Lodge in the Best Native American Album, and Will Clipman in the Best New Age Album. I'm also proud of Stephen Butler, Canyon's producer, who was responsible for all four albums. Not many producers, whether working for an independent or major record label, can claim nominations for four different albums in one year!

This month's podcast features Canyon Records' chief engineer (and occasional producer), Jack Miller. Beginning as a very young recording enthusiast in the 1940s, Jack has recorded an amazing array of artists such as Duane Eddy, Henry Mancini, the Rolling Stones to countless others. Arizona's leading music historian and Jack's friend, Johnny D talks with Jack about a career that spans six decades. Click here to listen...

You can take advantage of two permanent sales promotions: If you purchase four CDs, you receive your choice of any one of the Voices Across the Canyon series at no charge, or, if you purchase two cassettes, a third one is free. Check back regularly for more specials on specific titles and genres.

If you need immediate personal assistance, please call 800-268-1141 (M-F, 8:30 am thru 4:30 pm MST). You can always reach me directly at rdoyle@canyonrecords.com with comments, suggestions or complaints. Your thoughts are always important.
