It’s finally March, and it feels like the great thaw might finally be commencing. Signs of spring are starting to pop up, like Toronto’s Ziigwan Indigenous music and arts festival — a free musical celebration of new beginnings.
Scheduled to take place from March 24 to 26 at Yonge-Dundas Square, the inaugural iteration of the three-day fest will feature performances from Status/Non-Status, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, DJ Shub, Nimkish, noelle, Logan Staats, Julian Taylor, Shawnee Kish, Sebastian Gaskin, Northern Cree, Boogey the Beat, Tia Wood and the Bullhorn Singers.

Will Clipman, peripatetic pan-global percussionist, will bring his aptly-titled solo concert and workshop to Wildwood Sounds in Del Norte CO on Friday, Saturday & Sunday April 14th, 15th & 16th for a heart-warming weekend of world music and mythopoetic storytelling. He has played this intimately charming acoustic venue a number of times as the drummer for various New Age and Americana ensembles; this is his first solo appearance!

Over the course of their thirty-year collaboration as performing and recording artists, R. Carlos Nakai, William Eaton & Will Clipman have engaged in an ever-evolving improvisational trialogue to generate their collective sound. This creative process is documented on their five studio recordings for Canyon Records: Feather, Stone & Light; Red Wind; the GRAMMY nominated In a Distant Place (with Tibetan flutist Nawang Khechog); the GRAMMY® nominated Dancing into Silence; and the newly released Spiral Rendezvous. The trio will play improvisational themes and variations from their recorded oeuvre in their trademark one-of-kind, in-the-moment performance at CPAC.
